Snow and ice warnings for drivers as Arctic air brings -4°C blast

Weather warnings for snow and ice are in place across the UK as an Arctic blast sends temperatures plunging as low as -4°C.

Drivers have been warned of dangerous conitions on the roads, with some rural communities facing the threat of being temporarily cut off.

Met Office meteorologists say temperatures will be about 5°C to 6°C lower than usual for this time of year.
